BRAY® ALPHAPLEX™ COCO™ 50
The COCO™ 50 is a 50-watt handwired tube amplifier head, based heavily off of the famed 1968 “12 series” Plexi, designed for DLR era (also includes Live Without a Net) VH “Brown” tones.
I worked vigorously to keep the desirable articulation of a stock '68 intact, while improving gain for sustain at lower volumes, using the proper midrange for “Brown” girth, and choosing the correct attack and squish that makes this amplifier so incredibly fun and easier to play through, even at quiet volumes when using the amplifier's fully transparent Output Level control.
The COCO™ 50 performs equally as well between leaner PAF style pickups such as the Duncan '78 and higher wind models such as the DiMarzio Super Distortion.

The BRAY® ALPHAPLEX™ COCO™ 50 INCLUDES:

-Input jacks: The HI jack offers the most gain and aggression. Like a stock plexi, the bottom LO jack offers a cleaner and slighly darker sound.
-Volume I, Volume II: Like a plexi, VOLUME I and VOLUME II are “semi-channels” that run in parallel. VOLUME I is brighter and offers more “snarl”, while VOLUME II is darker, and has deeper bass, though slightly less than a stock '68, making it more usable.
-Gangster ™ Button: Affects the VOLUME I setting via the included footswitch. When the GREEN footswitch LED is ON, this causes the VOLUME I setting to go instantly to 10, from whatever setting it is set at. Have it on 4 for a classic mild breakup, then step on the button and BANG, instant gain boost without a tone change distraction. Or, have it set lower for a clean sound, then hit the button for FULL drive. You can also turn VOLUME I completely down, and rely only on VOLUME II for your cleaner sound, then step on the footswitch for your drive sound. The GANGSTER™ feature is an effective way to mimmick a dual-channel amplifier without the extra knobs and tone change when switching.
-Dual-Output Levels: “Output” level controls overall output coming from the amp. “Quieter” level is made active using the included footswitch, and reduces the Output Level when activated. Use this knob to determine the distance between your Lead and Rhythm volume levels. The higher you raise the Quieter knob, the closer your RHYTHM and SOLO levels will be.
